What we do
Current Living helps UK households make sense of electric cars, home charging, solar, batteries and energy bills. We focus on the questions that cost or save real money: grants, taxes, tariffs, rules and running costs.
We write in plain English, link to our sources and show when each page was last checked.
What we cover
- Electric cars: buying, owning and running an EV
- Charging: home chargers, public networks and charging rules
- Tax and grants: eVED, the Electric Car Grant and chargepoint grants
- Solar and batteries: plug-in solar, rooftop panels and storage
- Energy bills: the price cap, VAT and tariffs
- News: the announcements that affect what you pay
- Tools: calculators to run your own numbers
How we work
Every fact, figure, date and price we publish is checked against a primary source, such as GOV.UK, legislation.gov.uk, Ofgem or the company that sets the price. We link to those sources in the article and list them at the end.
Where something is not yet confirmed, we say so and say who claims it. When rules or prices change, we update the page and the “Last checked” date.
